Who would've thought ....
Aug. 12th, 2009 02:06 amAs it turns out, when you move those special directories like "my music" or "my videos" from C:\users\your-account, Windows maintains a virtual link kinda thing so that such a folder appears both wherever you moved it to, and under C:\users\your-account as well.
You know, I really liked when moving stuff around actually moved stuff around instead of playing tricks on the file system.
You know how I found out that Vista does it like that?
Right, I deleted what I thought was a dublicate in C:\users\your-account. Well, it wasn't. And now the contents of my video folder is gone. 40GB of Burn Notice, some Doctor Who, Leverage, Terminator SCC, Firefly, several Animes I'd intended to watch. Wahay.
Good thing I noticed before fiddling with my music folder. Those 118GB would've been a lot worse.
