new stuff!
Mar. 18th, 2006 07:05 pmToday I went to Staples to buy some new CD-Rs.
I ran across a nice wireless mouse / keyboard combo though, so I ended up buying that too.
It's a Labtec "power wireless desktop plus". I'll make pictures later.
Anyway, both mouse and keyboard are very light, keyboard is very flat too, and the keys feel nice. It's got a lot of extra buttons, to open default browser / e-Mail program / multimedia program (Winamp for me), "My Computer", and calculator. Funnily enough, the calculator button is actually one I intend to use a lot. I used to start it by going through Start -> Run, because for some reason I use it all the time.
Anyway, special buttons are in three groups. Leftmost has forward and back buttons, refresh, stop, favourites, etc for your browser. Middle group has buttons to increase / decrease / mute, start/pause, stop, skip buttons for Winamp. And the rightmost group launches programs (e-Mail, browser, etc).
The mouse has the exact number of buttons I want on a mouse, but they're not all in the places I expected. Anyway, that's not too bad, since the additional buttons are tiny ones left and right of the mouse wheel, and I can live with that, especially since they default to doing forwards and backwards in browsers apparently (which is what I've used these kinds of buttons on previous mice for too).
Oh, and the mouse is optical and comes with rechargeable batteries.
And the receiver acts as a recharger for the mouse.
Not the keyboard though, I'll have to buy new batteries for that occasionally, but then, with my previous mouse and keyboard, I had to buy new batteries all the time for both ...
Anyway, old wireless mouse and keyboard are now hooked up to Sachiel. (:
