I rebooted. Just a quick reboot because of that update I did a while ago.
And, of course, I can't connect to the internet afterwards. My network connection is sooo borked somewhere.
I tried everything I could think of. Fiddled with the network settings, even though I hadn't changed them in ages.
Fiddled with the modem settings, even though I hadn't changed anything there either.
Resetted the modem, even though I knew it wasn't a problem with the modem.
Tried removing the windows network bridge.
Used system restore to get back to a point around a week ago where I knew everything was working, and before I installed that Windowsupdate that made me reboot in the first place.
By now I couldn't even ping the modem anymore. Hooked it up to Sachiel to access its config and get it back to what I thought was a working state.
At the same time I can't config the network bridge on Lilith. Whatever I do, it just hangs itself (without noticing it hanging though. Can't even kill it through task manager).
It's been around 3 hours since I did that "quick reboot". I've ripped out the network card connecting Lilith to Sachiel, which is the only way to get rid of that annoying network bridge. Now that it's gone, I can ping the modem again, and I can finally connect to the 'net again. Of course, there's no network connection between Lilith and Sachiel anymore (seeing that the network card is gone) ...
Ugh, I fucking hate networks. There's gotta be an easy way to do networkey things, i.e. two computers, each connecting to the net and each other. I'm thinking router. Do those things actually work? Like, really? Easily?
