lots has happened today, but trust me, I'll forget most of it before finishing this entry ...
So, where to start ...
Shortly after I've arrived at the airport, Steffi showed up, and asked whether I could take over her second shift tomorrow, so I'll do that.
Then my boss showed up, said hello, and we chatted for a bit. He was there to discuss some stuff with the boss type of person of the airport, mostly things about the parking lot, and our counter ... Then he returned back to me, and we chatted some more. He asked about how I got along with the PC, and with stuff in general. I told him that I've got used to the computer by now, and that in fact, just a few days ago I was sitting at my PC at home and tried quitting something with F8. He laughed at that ... d:
We're supposed to get "uniforms" (well, just shirts really), so I asked him if it's okay for me to order shirts with short sleeves, because I never really wear anything with long sleeves. So, that was okay with him. He also added that I shouldn't worry about the ties. They're listed for us, but he can't quite imagine what Olaf or me look like with ties, so we'll be doing without. Just the shirts basically, with black jeans (which is what I wear most of the time anyway).
He also stood aside while I dealt with some customers, so he got to hear my 1337 english skillz too. Actually, now that I think about it, he must also have seen that I'm getting along quite okay with the computer program, and that I'm quite capable to quickly fix a paper jam in the printer, and re-print the rental agreement. Wheee!
He also explained to me about the development process of the software we're using ... Something about some indians who at no point during development got together to agree on common key combos, or anything ...
More accomplishments include learning how to search for other EuropCar stations ...
Then, there were 3 boys at the airport, round about 13 years old. I hadn't really noticed them, because I was busy reading my book most of the time (page 220 now. I'd started reading it yesterday, at "work"). But at some point Sixt Steffi and Jenny came over to my counter, and told me that those boys were "flirting" with them all time (or maybe that should be "stalking"). Apparently one of them had come up to Jenny and asked for a kiss, and stuff, and they kept following them around the airport etc. I found that quite funny (no, not in the "why haven't I thought of that" way) d;
Well ... Other than that, I had a few customers, and stuff. Beate called and asked about reservations this evening, since that'll be her shift, and she's not too fit with the computer yet.
Uhm ... back to our computers for a moment. Or rather, 6 letter codes:
Each Europcar station / bureau / etc has got a 6 letter code representation ...
For example, Hamburg Airport is HAMT01 - HAM stands for Hamburg, T for Terminal, iow airport station, and the number is just in case there's several of our stations at Hamburg airport.
HAMC01 would be some station in Hamburg City.
So far, easy enough. The same goes for Lübeck, which is abbreviated with LBC. LBCT01 == Lübeck airport, LBCC01 == Lübeck city.
Or Kempten, which is where, I think yesterday, a customer wanted to go, which quite logically is abbreviated with KSN (or was it KNS?).
Since I didn't know the code, I checked the directory, which told me that Kempten is KSNC02. No idea why it's not 01 *shurgs*
So I entered that, and got an error, since that station doesn't exist. Right, quite neat.
At this point I decided to ask someone how to search for europcar stations, and then I was told, that it's quite easy. In the 6 letter code field, enter the first three letters of the actual name of the town, then add /s and press F5 to get a list of towns whose names start with those three letters you've entered. Yay for indian programmers.
Btw, it only works like this in the booking mask. When doing a rental agreement, it's done in some other way.
Anyway, as it turned out, the directory was outdated, and the station had become KSNC03.
So, yay for all that. Now I'll try and finish those 75 LJ entries I haven't yet read ...
